Most experts view the Yankees' farm system overall as middle of the pack, with many of their most exciting prospects -- including 16-year-old wunderkind Jasson Dominguez -- in the lower levels.

But the Yanks have a handful of prospects who could potentially make an impact during the 2020 season, including their No. 1 overall prospect.

Deivi Garcia, RHP

The diminutive Garcia (he's just 5'9") took the minors by storm in 2019, striking out 120 batters in just 71.1 innings as he stormed through High-A Tampa and Double-A Trenton and his name began to surface in rumors as a potential headline piece for an impact pitcher at the trade deadline.

Every Monday, we'll be taking a look at how the Yankees' top prospects (their MLB.com Yankees Top-30 rankings are in parenthesis) are faring.

Deivi Garcia, RHP, Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (No. 1, MLB No. 64) -- ETA 2020

In the bullpen for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre since Aug. 22, Garcia's continues to adjust. His second appearance came last Monday when he allowed two runs on three hits, a walk and a hit batter while he struck two out on 42 pitches, battling command issues with 24 strikes to 18 balls. Garcia's latest outing and third overall as a reliever occurred last last Friday with mixed results. He surrendered three runs on two hits, including a home run, plus two walks to two strikeouts on 38 pitches -- 21 strikes.

In three games from the 'pen, Garcia has given up six runs on eight hits (two home runs) and sports a 11.57 ERA. However, his swings and misses are still evident of the power arm that made the 20-year-old rise up the Yankees' list of prospects, striking out nine while walking three.

Deivi Garcia, RHP, Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (No. 1, MLB No. 64) -- ETA 2020

Garcia was moved to the bullpen, with many believing it was in preparation for a potential promotion to the bigs to see what he could give the Yankees in September. In his first appearance in his new role, Garcia allowed one earned run on three hits, while striking out five and walking one over two innings of work. Not bad for his first outing.

Some believe that Garcia might see some time in the big leagues this season. A courtesy call-up could be in store, but the chances of Garcia providing meaningful innings are dwindling as he's been torched by Triple-A batters in his four turns through the RailRiders' rotation.

Yankees pitching prospect Albert Abreu left his start with the Trenton Thunder on Tuesday after about 20 pitches due to an apparent injury, the team announced.

The 23-year-old, who is ranked the Yankees' No. 4 prospect by MLB Pipeline, appeared to be pointing to his shoulder during a brief discussion on the mound with his coaches following an 89 mph passed ball, per Greg Johnson of The Trentonian.

After the game, Thunder manager Patrick Osborn said that Abreu felt soreness and tightness in his right bicep and will undergo an MRI on Wednesday. He added he does not believe it is shoulder or elbow related.

With just nine days to go until the July 31 trade deadline, asking prices will fluctuate, rumors will swirl and big names will likely be on the move.

The Yankees are one of the many teams actively searching for starting pitching reinforcements. And Brian Cashman's team is well-positioned to build on its nine-game lead in the AL East.

In recent years, Cashman has been extremely cautious in deadline dealings. He's been careful to hold on to his most valued prospects, and for the most part, that strategy has paid off.

Look at the Sonny Gray deal as an example. He didn't work out in New York, but the trade is significant for another reason - -it's the most recent example of Cashman surrendering top prospects in a midseason deal. He sent out James Kapreilian, Jorge Mateo and Dustin Fowler, all of whom were top-15 names in New York's system, according to MLB Pipeline. So far, only one of those prospects (Fowler) has reached the Major Leagues.

Estevan Florial, OF, High-A Tampa (No. 1, MLB No. 46) -- ETA 2021

Florial is mired in a slump, which has him hitting .176 (6-for-34) over his last 10 games. During the stretch, Florial has struck out 12 times and has failed to draw a walk, bringing his ratio of strikeouts to walks for the season to 56:10. As a result, Florial has generated a disappointing .619 OPS.

The Yankees' best pitching prospects have come in waves of three. Remember the trio of Joba Chamberlain, Phil Hughes and Ian Kennedy? What about the "Killer B's," Dellin Betances, Manny Banuelos and Andrew Brackman?

Most Yankees fans know the team's most talked about prospects right now -- Jonathan Loaisiga has MLB experience. Deivi Garcia is one of the most highly-touted pitchers in all of the minor leagues. With the Yankees' recent history of cranking out three pitching prospects at a time, fans want to know -- who's the third member of the big three?

Meet Albert Abreu.

The Yankees' No. 3 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, Abreu was acquired in 2016 in a trade for Brian McCann. After battling injuries and inconsistency in 2018, Abreu has gotten back on track at Double-A Trenton this year, pitching to a solid 3.72 ERA (though his 1.58 WHIP is quite high), and ranking 18th in the Eastern League with 77 strikeouts.

Florial got off to a very nice start, going 6-for-20 with two doubles and a home run in six games. He has already swiped three bases, too.

With the trade deadline approaching swiftly, every team is doing their due diligence of scouting farm systems across the country. As for the Yankees, they've certainly being putting in the extra hours as GM Brian Cashman is looking to make a splash with a preference in the pitching department.

The Giants have also been doing their homework, and the Yankees' farm system is at the top of their list. In fact, they have their eyes set on one particular prospect.

Right-handed hurler Albert Abreu reportedly impressed the Giants when they took a look at the Yankees' lower-level farm teams, per NJ.com's Brendan Kuty. Abreu is the Yankees' third-best prospect, according to MLB.com, and he is sporting a 4.28 ERA over 48.1 innings with High-A Tampa this season.
