When Lebron decided on Miami my first reaction (other than to sit in front of the computer and be with the great and loyal fans of this site and of the Knicks to talk about it) was from an Xs and Os perspective. I never knew how Wade and James would mesh. I was on SNY talking about how I believed it to be in Lebron's best interest to play in the pick and roll with Amar'e Stoudemire. That made the most basketball sense.
What you saw in this finals was a heat team that had no chemistry offensively, despite having 3 of the best 4 players on the floor most of the time. There was no flow, poor spacing. If you can keep the heat out of transition, which the Mavs did for the last 4 games of the series, then you can beat them in crunch time.
James not utilizing pick and roll was a mistake. But the biggest mistake, to me, is the simple fact that James chose a rather submissive role with Wade with the team and it was a big part of the team's issues. Yes, they made it to Game 6 of the NBA Finals, but how they blend in the half court of big games moving forward will be the hump they will have to get over in order to win championships.
