Former New York Mets catcher Anthony Recker has signed a minor league deal with the Cleveland Indians with an invitation to Major League camp during spring training (Rubin, Nov. 27).
Recker, 32, had cleared waivers and was removed from the Mets 40-man roster on Nov. 6, which made him a free agent.
He had been with the Mets since the 2013 season. Last year he hit .125 with two home runs in 32 games played.
The Mets currently have catchers Travis d'Arnaud, Kevin Plawecki and Johnny Monell on their 40-man roster.
