Tonight, the Nets play the penultimate game of the first half of the NBA season, as they host the Charlotte Bobcats at the Barclays Center.

Charlotte has been one of the biggest surprises in the Eastern Conference this season, as rookie head coach Steve Clifford has done an outstanding job with this young Bobcats squad, keeping them right in the thick of things thus far.

The Bobcats enter tonight with a 23-29 record, which is still good enough for eighth place in the East. The Bobcats beat the Nets back in November in Charlotte, while the Nets have won their last four home games against the Bobcats, dating back to 2012.

On Saturday night, the Nets defeated the Charlotte Bobcats by a final score of 105-96.

The Skinny: The Nets dominated the interior to start, with 10 of the team?s first 12 points coming in the paint. But the Bobcats relied on offensive rebounds and second-chance points to stay in the game. Charlotte?s Gerald Henderson managed nine first-quarter points, but Brooklyn led by six after one.

Andray Blatche was unstoppable to start the second quarter, scoring the first eight Nets? points in the frame. Ben Gordon ? who the Nets had interest in at the NBA trade deadline ? and Jannero Pargo helped the Bobcats tie the game and take the lead after combining for 16 points on 5-of-6 shooting by the halfway mark of the quarter. Brook Lopez got the Nets get back close, and a fade-away jumper by Joe Johnson put Brooklyn back ahead. A Nets? bad turnover at the end of the first half led to an easy lay-up from Henderson, which gave the Bobcats a one-point lead heading into the break.

TKB welcomes Ryan Wallace, who worked for the Knicks' basketball ops on Matt Harding's staff for 8 years. Ryan was responsible for compiling data the team would use in scouting reports. Here are his thoughts on:

Offense: The Bobcats started a defensive minded lineup in their last game against the Indiana Pacers.? This did not hinder them in the first quarter as they were able to score 32 points.? However they only scored 47 points the rest of the game.? Running much of the same offense teams can now focus on stopping Gerald Henderson on the wing.? BJ Mullens has been a bright spot and his minutes should continue to climb.
