deja vu

Deja vu all over again.

Let?s flashback to last season.?The middling Brooklyn Nets went into San Antonio on Dec. 31, 2012 and got totally embarrassed by the Spurs by a score of 104-73 ? a 31-point loss.?In their next game on Jan. 2, 2013, the Nets were not expected to do much in Oklahoma City, against a Thunder team that had won 12 straight home games.

However, Brooklyn opened a 23-point lead, and despite a furious Thunder comeback to tie the game with seven minutes to play, the Nets orchestrated a 10-1 late run to gain an improbable 110-93 victory.

Reading some of the reactions to Prince Amukamara's unfortunate injury, it would seem as if many Giants fans believe the season is over before it started. While that is a knee-jerk overreaction, it's hard to sugarcoat this early misfortune.

The injury Amukamara sustained (fracture of the fifth metatarsal in his foot) is a common one among athletes, but it is not yet known how much time he will miss.?William Beatty suffered the same injury last year and missed seven weeks.?The injury requires surgery in which a screw will be inserted into his foot to optimize healing.

From what I've read, the best case scenario would see him on crutches for four to six weeks and have him back on the practice field after about seven to eight weeks. ?The worst case scenario would see his entire rookie season wiped out.
