Giants-Ravens

They couldn't have played any worse in a game where they needed to be at their best. The Giants were trounced by the Baltimore Ravens this afternoon, 33-14, in a game that Baltimore took control of from the first minute and never let go.

The Giants were pushed all over the field for the second week in row, and whatever the reasons be, it was inexcusable and difficult to watch. They resemble a team that is resigned to going home for the winter rather than one that will fight to the end, swinging and clawing in defense of their Super Bowl title.

They began this season in familiar fashion, going 6-2 in the first half before falling off the cliff with two wins in their next seven. Hard to believe this is happening again. Harder to believe is the fact they are still alive for a playoff spot going into next week (scenarios to follow).

Jim Mancari: Everyone has been saying that the Giants come through with the season on the line. I also believe this is true, but I have a feeling it's not going to be easy beating the Ravens traveling to Baltimore. I'm expecting a tight contest with a few big plays/mental mistakes on either side which will decide the game. The Ravens' defense is banged up, but the team has also lost three straight games and would rather not limp into the playoffs. The Giants need to score touchdowns when they get to the red zone in order to win this game. Sure, Joe Flacco has not been playing great, but with a player as explosive as Ray Rice, he can find the endzone every time he touches the ball. And Lawrence Tynes better be on target, because this game will likely come down to his leg. Giants 20, Ravens 17

I stopped predicting Giants games a couple of weeks ago. It was becoming futile. Who knows whether Jekyll or Hyde will show up (Jekyll is the good one, btw). The Giants' offense should be able to make some headway against this Ravens defense. Ahmad Bradshaw should play and?Hakeem Nicks is a week healthier, so having those two will help. That being said, the Ravens' offense should be able to do some damage as well. The Giants will probably be chasing Ray Rice all day.

New York has to get their return game going. Today's game is outdoors, so David Wilson should get some opportunities.

The Giants (8-6) are in Baltimore this afternoon to face the playoff-bound Ravens. It is a must-win game if they have any designs on qualifying for the postseason, although they would not necessarily be eliminated should they lose. The Ravens come into the game losers of their last three, while the Giants are coming off their first regular-season shutout loss in 16 years.

Who are these Giants and which team will show up from week to week has become a popular parlor game in these parts. We dare you to predict which team will come out of that tunnel in Baltimore this Sunday afternoon.

Will it be the flat, listless Giants we saw last week against the Falcons, or the dominant hustlers we saw whip San Francisco, Carolina, New Orleans and Green Bay with such alacrity?

Step right up and try your luck.

Giants (8-6) at Baltimore Ravens (9-5) (Sunday, FOX, 4:25 PM ET)

The Ravens are already in. The Giants hope to join them. Baltimore, which has clinched a playoff berth, can win the AFC North with a victory. The defending Super Bowl champions will assure themselves at least a postseason spot with wins in their final two games.

?If we win two games, we?re going to be in the playoffs,? says Giants head coach Tom Coughlin. ?That?s what we have to focus on. Our team knows the circumstances very well. It is a playoff situation for us. We now have to win to have the opportunity to go to the playoffs. We?ve responded to that in the past. We?re going to have to respond to that again.?
