On offense, they will start their opening day lineup in Tennessee this Sunday: LT Will Beatty, LG Weston Richburg, C JD Walton, RG John Jerry and RT Justin Pugh. They finally have some numbers behind that group.
Eric Herman has been promoted from the practice squad, joining James Brewer, Brandon Mosely and Dallas Reynolds in the second unit. Not the greatest of options, but at least three of the four are healthy. Brewer is still being monitored for concussion-like symptoms. He is also the only spare tackle on the roster.
They remain the same at QB, TE, FB and WR. Rashad Jennings and Andre Williams are still 1 and 2 in the backfield, with Orleans Darkwa and the newly-signed Chris Ogbonnaya providing the depth behind them.
The hope is that WR Odell Beckham, Jr. can continue to perform miracles, otherwise this offense is going to sputter and sputter and sputter along.
On defense, the line is down to three DEs after Mathias Kiwanuka and Robert Ayers were shut down on Tuesday. JPP, Damontre Moore and rookie Kerry Wynn are the team's only ends. Cullen Jenkins can play outside as well, but he's still dealing with a calf injury.
The team is well-stocked at DT: Jon Hankins, Jenkins, Mike Patterson, Markus Kuhn, rookie Jay Bromley and Dominique Hamilton, who was called up from the practice squad. The numbers are there, but is the quality? They will need better play on the line the rest of the season.
The LB corp is back to six with the signing of James Davidson. The starters should be Jameel McClain in the middle flanked by rookie Devon Kennard and Jacquian Williams (concussion), who is expected to return this week. Mark Herzlich and SPencer Paysinger remain the backups.
At corner, the Giants have scrambled to replace the injured all year long. DRC left the Jacksonville game in the first half and was replaced by Chykie Brown. Zack Bowman was the other corner. That's a far cry from the blueprint drawn up before the season. The other corners? Mike Harris, Chandler Fenner and Jayron Hosley, none of whom were on the team's roster going into the season.
The safeties have not taken any hits since the season began. Antrel Rolle, Stevie Brown, Quintin Demps and rookie Nat Berhe are all still in their respective spots. The only change has been that Brown has been getting more reps than Demps of late.
Special teams have not changed much. LS Zak DeOssie, P Steve Weatherford and PK Josh Brown have been a contstant all year. Preston Parker is the main KR with Demps and Darkwa backing him up. Beckham has become the primary punt returner with Parker and Rueben Randle behind him.
Roster Moves and Notes: The Giants currently have 20 players on season-ending IR, the most in the NFL. on Tuesday, they filled three openings on their practice squad. DE Jordan Stanton, OL Rishaw Johnson and LB Paul Hazel were added.
They join OL Michael Bamiro, TE Jerome Cunningham, DB Josh Victorian, CB Victor Hampton and WRs Julian Talley, Juron Criner and Chris Harper on the PS.
CB Michael Bennett, a seventh round draft pick out of Notre Dame, is on the Practice Squad/Injured list. He is the 19th player the team has lost for the season due to injury.
