The Pro Football Writers of America have released their All-Rookie Team for the 2019-20 season, and one Giant has made the list.
DL Dexter Lawrence, the 17th overall pick by New York in the 2019 NFL Draft, has made the cut after a solid rookie season.
Lawrence was actually Pro Football Focus' top-graded rookie after the first six weeks. He had totaled two sacks, a forced fumble and two tackles for loss in those contests.
Overall, Lawrence finished the season with 38 combined tackles, three tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, nine quarterback hits, one forced fumble, and even had one pass defended.
The Giants have to like what they saw in Year 1 from the standout Clemson lineman. Lawrence not only proved to be a solid run stuffer, but he also promised that he could be a three-down lineman with the ability to get to the quarterback, and he certainly showed signs of that.
How Lawrence will be working in Patrick Graham's scheme will be interesting to see, as Graham might move back to a base 4-3 defense. No matter the scheme, Lawrence has proven to be an interior force with tons of upside for Big Blue.
Other than Lawrence, Jaguars DE Josh Allen, Bills DT Ed Oliver, and 49ers DE Nick Bosa made up the defensive front for the rookie team.
