The Giants are signing free agent DT Austin Johnson, reports Dan Duggan of The Athletic.
Johnson, 25, spent the first four seasons of his career with the Tennessee Titans, where he played 58 games (13 starts).
He made just one start last season after making nine starts in 2018.
The 6-4, 314-pounder never lived up to his promise as a second-round pick of the Titans in 2016, SNY's Ralph Vacchiano noted, adding that he's mostly been a backup and special teamer.
According to Vacchiano, Johnson has a big booster on staff in new defensive line coach Sean Spencer, who was Johnson's D-line coach at Penn State.
For his career, Johnson has amassed 2.5 sacks and 83 total tackles.
Johnson will get a chance to compete for a spot on the roster during training camp.
