The Giants have signed WR Kevin Norwood to their practice squad, reports Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.
Norwood will serve as insurance if Victor Cruz (ankle) is unable to play this coming Monday against the Bengals, notes Rapoport.
Norwood was originally with Seattle and then was traded to Carolina, who really didn't use him. He was not active in last year's Super Bowl.
Due to his size (6'2", 210 pounds), there were high hopes for him when he was drafted in the fourth round out of Alabama, but he had issues with drops and just never caught on.
The Giants lose nothing by adding him to the practice squad. It is doubtful he'll get elevated to the big club, but you never know -- sometimes players flourish in a new setting.
