Yesterday’s question: the Giants have had some great running backs in their history, but their QBs have never been known to leave the pocket by design.
Which QB has rushed for the most yards as a Giant?
- Eli Manning
- Fran Tarkenton
- Jeff Hostetler
- Phil Simms
Many thought it was Fran Tarkenton, who was known as Fran the Scrambler and did a lot of that while he was here, gaining 1126 yards over five seasons behind a leaky offensive line. Fran ended up with 3674 career rushing yards over his 18-year career, so it was easy to see why most readers picked him...
Hostetler is third on the list with 704 yards. Hoss could bolt out of the pocket when needed, he just didn't play enough. He only started 25 games, which in retrospect doesn't seem possible, but it is. A tremendous athlete that did not get enough opportunities until well into his career.
Eli Manning may end up with many of the team's all-time records, but rushing won't be one of them. He is currently seventh among QBs in that category behind Charlie Conerly (685), Dave Brown (618) and Gary Wood (485) with 365 yards (hahaha, I said wood).
Here's an easy one on a hot day in NYC.....
