Pat Summerall, one of the legendary voices of the NFL and former New York Giant, has passed away at the age of 82.
Summerall played four years with the Giants as a kicker, from 1958-1961. As a Giant, he made 52.7% of his field goals and 98.6% of his extra point attempts.
Summerall went into broadcasting for the 1962 season, and was working into 2011 on pre-game coverage of the Cotton Bowl.
I had the pleasure of interviewing Pat two years ago after the release of his book, "GIANTS - What I Learned About Life From Vince Lombardi and Tom Landry"....an excellent read for all may I add....
Here is a video of Pat with being presented the Vin Scully Lifetime Achievement Award by longtime friend Frank Gifford in May of 2011.
Pat covered Super Bowl XXI along with John Madden in January of 1987. The Giants defeated the Denver Broncos, 39-20.
