Chris Carlin and Adam Schein offer their predictions for the Raiders-Jets game Sunday and the Giants-Lions game on Monday night.
Food for thought...the Giants may be having trouble on offense, but it's only in the short passing game. Eli can still throw long, he just hasn't been instructed to do so as of yet. They also can run the ball very well and draw the airheads on the Lions' defensive line into penalties by going right at them with a smashmouth style.
And when did Detroit's defense become vaunted? They finished 28th in the NFL in sacks and 31st in tackles last year and were middle of the road in all the other categories.
No one is taking into account that the Lions have been just as sloppy as the Giants. Last year, they were -12 in the give/take category. The Giants were -11.
QB Matthew Stafford is a turnover machine that makes several bad decisions a week that equate into points for the opposition. I had him in fantasy football three of past four years. He threw for a ton of yards and a lot of TDs, but he's the king of the pick-six. Just look at last year's game vs the Giants when Will Hill picked him off and took one to the house.
RB Reggie Bush is explosive, but he goes missing during games. I know, I had him, too.
Yes, the Giants aren't looking very good these days, but Detroit is not Seattle or San Francisco, either. This game will not be a blowout.
