After the roof of the Metrodome collapsed this morning, John Mara suggested to the NFL several times the Giants’ game against the Vikings be moved to the New Meadowlands Stadium, a la the ’05 Giants-Saints game.more
“But that didn’t get very far,” Mara said.
Ultimately, the game was moved to Ford Field in Detroit and will kick off at 7:20 p.m. Eastern time Monday. After two days of travel woes, the Giants are hoping to land in Detroit this afternoon and finally play a game that was originally scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m. today.
From his seat in a plane on the runway of Kansas City International Airport, Mara told reporters on a conference call his team remains eager to play some football.
“They’ve been in great spirits. They’ve really taken it in stride very well,” the team president and CEO said. “They’ve been laughing and joking about it. They’ve taken it about as well as you could possibly expect.
“That includes the head coach, by the way.”
