Giant fans probably spent most of the day rooting for the Jets and the Falcons in their games against the Eagles and Cowboys, respectively. One result was favorable, the other not so much.
The Eagles forced four turnovers and won their first game of the season, 24-17, over the Jets at MetLife Stadium despite playing without DeMarco Murray. The Cowboys blew a 14-point second-quarter lead and allowed 25 unanswered points, losing to the Falcons, 39-28, at AT&T Stadium.
Philly faced an 0-3 start if they couldn't solve the Jets, who played without Eric Decker and Chris Ivory. Ryan Mathews ran for 108 yards and Darren Sproles returned a punt 89 yards for a touchdown, as the Eagles raced to a 24-0 lead and held on for a seven-point lead.
The Cowboys, starting a game without both Tony Romo and Dez Bryant for the first of what will be many times this year, jumped out to a huge lead against Atlanta, only to have Devonta Freeman run for 141 yards and three touchdowns, and Julio Jones have 12 catches for 164 yards and two touchdowns.
While the Cowboys still maintain an NFC East lead for another week, the Eagles, Giants and Redskins are all in a three-way tie for second in the division.
Week 4 has the Giants traveling to Buffalo, Dallas playing in New Orleans and the Redskins hosting the Eagles at FedEx Field.
