"When we look back at it last week we just know that we simply did not get the job done," said CB Prince Amukamara. "Carolina outplayed us and we just have to learn from the game, like we did, and get prepared to play next week. That’s how it is in the NFL, that’s what I’m learning, is that there’s a good team every week and our job is to try and go 1-0 every week."
S Ryan Mundy is still looking for his first win in Blue. He knows the drill, too. It's all about individuals making the sacrifice for the good of the team.
The NFL is week to week. I’ve been in this league for some time now and I have some experience," said Mundy. "It’s all about the guys in this locker room. We have to come together and play for your brother. Sell out to win, leave it all on the field because right now, this is a must-win. Let’s make no mistake about it. We need this game. We need to get back on track and start stacking some wins."
This week's opposing QB is former 49er Alex Smith, who the Giants have historically handled. It won't be easy to rattle Smith in this wild Arrowhead setting (the Chiefs have only one turnover this season, a fumble).Mundy says it's imperative for the Giants to play their best game this Sunday. He was asked how they would accomplish that:
"Execution. Flying to the ball, being aggressive, relentless, physical. Other teams have had opportunities. He threw some balls right to some guys, but they just didn’t catch them. We just have to capitalize. If we have those opportunities, we need to catch the ball. If the ball is on the turf, we need to recover the ball. We’ve had some opportunities in the past three games when the ball was on the turf, but we didn’t recover it. We just need to start capitalizing on those opportunities and we’ll be fine."
In other news, the Giants have already ruled out four players for tomorrow's game: C David Baas (neck), TE Adrien Robinson (foot), G Chris Snee (hip) and CB Corey Webster (hip). OL David Diehl (thumb) is doubtful. S Cooper Taylor (shoulder), LB Jacquian Williams (knee) are questionable and LB Spencer Paysinger (hip), CB Terrell Thomas (knee) and DE Justin Trattou (ankle) are listed as probable.
