The Giants filled their last two practice squad openings today with the addition of QB G.J. Kinne and LB Gerald Rivers. They will join DE Brad Bars, OT Emmett Cleary, WR Julian Talley, LB Cole Farrand, CB CJ Conley, DT Montori Hughes, OL Adam Gettis and TE Will Tye on the list.
The active roster, however, still has one spot to fill.
Since the Giants cut their 53-man roster last Saturday afternoon, they've released DT Kenrick Ellis and CB Mike Harris in favor of two players they were awarded off waivers, CB Asa Jackson and DT Louis Nix.
Jackson was subsequently waived to make room for LB Jasper Brinkley. Nix failed his physical and was released. The Giants have yet to fill his spot. Safety Stevie Brown was cut and safety Craig Dahl was signed.
DE Jason Pierre-Paul is not on the roster. He is on the Reserve/Franchise Player list and his salary is being held in abeyance and is cap effective. He can be added to the active roster only this season. That may not happen for awhile since he won't sign his tender until he and the Giants come to an agreement on how much of the $14.8 million he is going to be paid. Every week JPP is unable to play, the Giants will receive back $871,352 in salary cap space.
On Wednesday, WR Victor Cruz (calf) did not practice while LB Jon Beason (knee), LB Jonathan Casillas (neck) and DL Cullen Jenkins (hamstring) were all limited.
Practice was conducted with officials and simulated crowd noise blared over loudspeakers to ready the players for Sunday night's game at the massive AT&T Stadium.
