The Islanders announced they signed F Stephen Gionta to a one-year, two-way contract.
Newsday's Arthur Staple reports the contract is worth $650,000 for his time in the NHL, and $225,000 for AHL time.
The 33-year-old played in 26 games have the Islanders last season where he notched one goal and five assists. He also played seven games with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, the Islanders AHL affiliate, talling one goal and two assists.
Prior to his time with the Islanders, Gionta spent six seasons with the New Jersey Devils. He played in 24 Stanley Cup Playoff games during the Devils 2011-12 Stanley Cup Final run, notching three goals and four assists.
Gionta was also a member of the Bronze medal-winning Team USA at the 2013 World Championships where he scored three goals.
