There's no question the Giants are still looking to beef up their defense this offseason, and the odds of them selecting a defensive player with the 10th overall selection in this month's NFL Draft are short money.
The club would love to grab a top pass rusher or safety high in the draft, but may be lured by the athelticism and speed of a cornerback who could help seal off its porous back end.
The Giants haven't shown much interest in the cornerback market since bagging the Rams' Janoris Jenkins on a five-year, $62 million deal within the first 24 hours of free agency this year. Former Arizona Cardinals cornerback Jerraud Powers came in last week for a visit, but left without a contract. The Giants do not seem eager to sign him or any of the other free agent defensive backs remaining on the market at the moment.
