The Giants and Cowboys are set to face off in their second showdown of the season on Sunday.

For the G-Men, it's a chance to get revenge for Jerry Jones' comments following his Cowboys' win in the season opener and extend their lead in the NFC East. A win would situate Big Blue at 6-2 and potentially three games better than the runner-up.

For the Boys, it's an opportunity to sweep the series against New York for the first time since 2007 and make ground on the division-leading Giants. Both Dallas and Philadelphia are sitting at 3-3, with the Eagles facing a tough one vs. Atlanta.

Cowboys' owner Jerry Jones is "softening" his preseason pledge to 'kick the Giants' ass' when they come to Dallas this season, now that several of his key players have been lost to injury...

"Against this team, [regarded] by many as arguably the best team in the NFL, we wanted all hands on deck," Jones said Wednesday as per Charean Williams of the Star-Telegram. "It is disappointing not to have two players of that caliber. I've said all along I think this team has an opportunity to be a contender, but the one exception that I made was ... sitting as we're sitting right now, health-wise, injury can make a difference and does in the NFL. It's been my experience when you do have a situation like this, others will step up. Others on the field at different positions will compensate."

No one ever gives the Giants a break for losing key players.Tom Coughlin?never uses injuries as an excuse and his players never blame losing or poor play or in cases where they are missing key players.

Following the Giants' Week 1 loss to the Cowboys, owner Jerry Jones invited everybody back to Cowboys Stadium in Week 8 to watch his 'Boys "beat the Giants' asses."

Jones' cockiness was understood ... at the time. Sort of, I guess.

Dallas did play their most complete game of the season in the opener. I guess if you give them 8 or so months to prepare for one game, they really give it their all.
