When the Jets released Wednesday's injury report for Week 14, they had their top defensive player atop the list.
With Adams as the latest casualty, the injury bug has bitten the Jets throughout the 2019 season, particularly on defense.
"Yeah, it's tough," Adams said. "Obviously, it's things that you can't control in this game, it's things you can't control in this life. But you've just got to control what you can control, at the end of the day. But like I said, man, we'll be fine. Just got to continue to get better, continue to stay healthy and go from there."
Season-ending injuries to linebackers C.J. Mosley and Avery Williamson and cornerback Trumaine Johnson, who are all on Injured Reserve, have headlined the Jets' bad luck.
After the injury surfaced on the first drive of the Bengals game, Adams said Sunday that he played through his pain. Jets head coach Adam Gase left the ball in Adams' court as Sunday's home game against the Miami Dolphins (3-9) at MetLife Stadium approaches.

"We are going to be probably working through that the entire week," Gase said Wednesday. "We have an initial plan, we just have to work through it in practice just because we have to have a contingency plan because what if somebody goes out, how we are shuffling things around. We have a lot of guys that will be responsible playing a few different positions.
If Adams is unable to practice and ultimately remains sidelined for Sunday, the Jets (4-8) have an interesting task looming with the Dolphins, who are coming off Week 13's 37-31 win over the Philadelphia Eagles and can sweep New York after Nov. 3's 26-18 victory.
"It'll definitely be a challenge," said safety Marcus Maye. "We've been dealing with (injuries) all year. So the guys coming in, they've got to be ready to go. New guys coming in, we can't miss a beat. So everybody got to be prepared and work hard this week to be ready when they get out there."
