Following the first week of the exhibition season in the NFL, the optimism surrounding both of New York's football teams is through the roof.
The Jets' Sam Darnold led a single drive that was near perfect, as the second-year pro was 4-for-5 passing with a touchdown. The Giants' once looked down upon rookie QB in Daniel Jones was one pass better, as he was 5-for-5 passing with a touchdown.
So... Jets vs. Giants Super Bowl?
Maybe not, but the expectations for the two are currently identical, according to the oddsmakers at Odds Shark. The betting outlet released the latest odds for the 2019 Super Bowl on Monday and both teams have +8000 odds. And despite the promising games for the young QBs, the odds aren't very optimistic, as those were the fourth-worst odds handed out.
Along with both New York clubs, the Buccaneers and Lions shares those +8000 odds. In total, only five teams have worse odds, the Cardinals, Bills and Redskins all slot in at +10000 while the Bengals (+12500) and Dolphins (+1500) sit in the basement.
The post-preseason Week 1 favorites to bring home the Lombardi Trophy are Saints (+850), Chiefs (+800) and defending champion Patriots (+700).
