Colon, 32, is entering his 10th season in the NFL, and is competing with Brian Winters, Brent Qvale and Oday Aboushi for the starting job.
Knee injuries have plagued Colon during the latter part of his career, but he said he is still competing as hard as he ever has.
"My injury report hasn't been the best at times," Colon said. "When people tag that with how old I am, it's easy to say, 'Hey, maybe he should ride off into the sunset.' But I know I have a heart of a lion, and I'm going to determine my own future. I believe I'm the master of my own fate."
Added Colon: "I really don't think [too much] about the end, honestly. I don't ever think about the future, because in my head, I'm still a ball player."
