The Mets' system got a boost with their terrific Draft in June but took a serious hit when they traded pitching prospects Anthony Kay and Simeon Woods Richardson to the Blue Jays for Marcus Stroman. Here's how the top prospects are performing, with MLB.com system rankings for each player in parentheses...

Ronny Mauricio, SS, Low-A Columbia -- ETA 2022 (No. 1)

Recently profiled by SNY's Joe DeMayo, Mauricio is a switch-hitting SS. Signed July 2, 2017, by the Mets as an international free agent, Mauricio completed Monday's regular-season finale for Low-A Columbia with a 1-for-4 performance that included a two-RBI triple. In his 116 games, he hit four home runs and 37 RBI with a slash line of .268/.307/.357. Prior to Monday, Mauricio's production reflected his numbers on the season as he hit .267 with four hits in 17 at-bats over four games since last Wednesday.

With the minor league season winding down, the Mets have promoted two of their three highly-touted 2019 draft picks to Short-Season Brooklyn as the Cyclones continue their playoff push.

3B Brett Baty (the Mets' No. 2 prospect, per MLB.com) is being promoted from rookie level Kingsport and RHP Matthew Allan (the Mets' No. 4 prospect) is being promoted from the rookie level Gulf Coast League.

The Mets selected Baty with their first round (12th overall) pick in the MLB Draft this past June, and snatched up Allan in the third round (89th overall) after he dropped due to signability concerns.

Mauricio, who we recently profiled here, is a switch-hitter who the Mets gave $2.1 million in 2017 as an international free agent.

After being on fire for the better part of a month, Mauricio is in the midst of a huge funk, with zero hits in his last 23 at-bats. Overall, he is hitting .273/.311/.366 with four homers, four triples, and 20 doubles in 105 games this season.

Andres Gimenez, SS, Double-A Binghamton -- ETA 2020

Gimenez remains mundane out in Binghamton, going 3-for-20 with a double and an RBI this past week. He is only hitting .239 on the season (95 games), but has a .306 OBP with 23 walks and 12 hit by pitches to boot.

The Mets have had a bit of a shakeup to their farm system rankings after dealing pitchers Anthony Kay and Simeon Woods Richardson to the Blue Jays in the Marcus Stroman trade.

Shortstop Ronny Mauricio has supplanted fellow shortstop Andres Gimenez (who has fallen to No. 3) as the organization's top prospect, according to updated rankings by MLB Pipeline.

Mets 2019 first-round pick, 3B Brett Baty, is the No. 2 prospect while third-round pick RHP Matthew Allen is the organization's No. 4 prospect as they have begun playing games in Rookie Ball while 3B Mark Vientos drops to sixth.

Andres Gimenez, SS, Double-A Binghamton -- ETA 2020

Last time we looked at Gimenez, he had just three hits in his last 17 at-bats. Well those numbers didn't really change much.

Over the past week, the shortstop has four hits in 17 at-bats. He did have a solid game on July 31, though, going 2-for-2 with a homer, double, and a walk. Overall, Gimenez is slashing .243/.312/.375 so far this season in Double-A.

Through the season's first 45 games, Gimenez has taken a step back from his short tenure with Binghamton in 2018, when he batted .277 in 37 contests. This year, the 20-year-old is hitting .232 with a .638 OPS and 50 strikeouts in 177 at-bats. The Venezuela native hasn't recorded multiple hits in a game dating back to May 20. Andrés Giménez, SS, Double-A Binghamton (No. 2) -- ETA 2020

Pete Alonso remains listed No. 1 on MLB.com's list of top Mets prospects, but he sure seems well entrenched in the majors given his outstanding start to the season. So Giménez tops the Mets' farm system, and it was a good week for the shortstop in Double-A Binghamton.

The 20-year-old went 9-for-25 in six games, recording one homer, three doubles, three RBI, three walks and two stolen bases along with six strikeouts. He takes a five-game hitting streak into Monday's game at Akron, and he had three hits in two of those games. He did commit an error in his last game, his second of the season.

The standout performance came on Thursday, when he went 3-for-4 with a homer and two doubles. The homer was a blast to right field which left the stadium and went "across the street," according to the MiLB video description.
