The 20-year-old Gimenez -- who is the Mets' No. 1 prospect now that Pete Alonso's prospect status has expired -- was recently mired in a 3-for-29 skid before going 2-for-2 with a walk on Saturday and 1-for-4 on Sunday.

Overall, he is hitting just .229/.302/.339 in 61 games this season. Gimenez, who can be a staple for the Mets at either shortstop or second base, was recently profiled by MetsBlog contributor Joe DeMayo here

Andres Gimenez, SS, Double-A Binghamton (No. 1) -- ETA 2020

The 20-year-old Gimenez -- who is the Mets' No. 1 prospect now that Pete Alonso's prospect status has expired -- is back to full health after missing 10 days after getting hit on the hand with a pitch, but his bat hasn't yet caught up.

He is just 5-for-27 (.185) with a stolen base since returning. Gimenez is just 20 years old, but is only slashing .246/.313/.345 over parts of two seasons at Double-A. He got three of those hits in one game, which included two doubles.

Andres Gimenez, SS, Double-A Binghamton (No. 1) -- ETA 2020

Through the season's first 45 games, Gimenez has taken a step back from his short tenure with Binghamton in 2018, when he batted .277 in 37 contests. This year, the 20-year-old is hitting .232 with a .638 OPS and 50 strikeouts in 177 at-bats. The Venezuela native hasn't recorded multiple hits in a game dating back to May 20. His defense has been solid, though, with a .973 fielding percentage at shortstop.

Andres Gimenez, SS, Double-A Binghamton (No. 1) -- ETA 2020

After being mired in a 1-for-16 slump last week, the 20-year-old shortstop showed signs of getting back on track with a hit in four of his last five games, but is still 5 for his last 20. He is hitting a slash line of .237/.294/.353 with two home runs, 14 RBI and 23 runs scored this season.

Andrés Giménez, SS, Double-A Binghamton (No. 2) -- ETA 2020

Pete Alonso remains listed No. 1 on MLB.com's list of top Mets prospects, but he sure seems well entrenched in the majors given his outstanding start to the season. So Giménez tops the Mets' farm system, and it was a good week for the shortstop in Double-A Binghamton.

The 20-year-old went 9-for-25 in six games, recording one homer, three doubles, three RBI, three walks and two stolen bases along with six strikeouts. He takes a five-game hitting streak into Monday's game at Akron, and he had three hits in two of those games. He did commit an error in his last game, his second of the season.

The standout performance came on Thursday, when he went 3-for-4 with a homer and two doubles. The homer was a blast to right field which left the stadium and went "across the street," according to the MiLB video description.
