Giants GM Dave Gettleman knows there is much work to do this offseason to upgrade a roster that has many holes to fill. The 2020 NFL Draft will hopefully shore up some of those, but with a little over $61 million to work with at the moment in cap space, according to Over The Cap, Gettleman can also be aggressive on the free agent market.

Looking at the Giants roster needs and the current free agent class, adding a pass rusher (or maybe even two) is definitely in the cards for Big Blue.

It's no secret at this point that the Giants would love to add more defensive ends or outside linebackers that can get in the backfield and disrupt the quarterback. The defensive line is solid against the run, coming in seventh in the NFL this past season, according to Football Outsiders. Rookie Dexter Lawrence teaming up with second-year men Dalvin Tomlinson and B.J. Hill showed tremendous upside in clogging up the interior.

Now that the Giants have finally conceded they really are rebuilding, new head coach Joe Judge faces what John Mara called "a daunting task." And that's not just because he's a 38-year-old, first-time head coach, either.

It's because the Giants went 9-23 over the last two years and could look very different by the time they hit the field for the start of next season. They do have a few good, young pieces to build around, but the reality is they still have plenty of holes.

To fill them, both Judge and GM Dave Gettleman swear it'll be a "collaborative" effort -- that they'll work together, and that their philosophy on how to build an "old school" team is already perfectly aligned. That remains to be seen, of course. But in case they need any help in getting started, here's a blueprint for them to quickly make the Giants a contender again:

Did you get everything you wanted this holiday season?

Chances are, you probably didn't make out as well as Giants linebacker Markus Golden, who will find himself $2.5 million richer following the team's season finale against the Eagles on Sunday.

Earlier in the week, the league announced a stat correction from the team's win over the Redskins in Week 16, crediting Golden for a full sack rather than a half-sack.

The Giants will have a ton of salary cap space this offseason to continue rebuilding their roster, but probably not many of their own players to spend it on. They are currently holding 15 players scheduled to be unrestricted free agents in March. Most of them aren't worth keeping.

Here's a look at those players, plus the Giants' three restricted free agents, and a few other players who could be - and perhaps should be - offseason salary cap cuts:

Do the Giants care about knocking the Eagles out of the playoffs? It depends on whom you ask.

After Thursday's practice, three days away from Sunday's 4:25 p.m. finale against NFC East-leading Philadelphia (8-7), several players acknowledged the possibility of playing the spoiler role.

"We want to play spoiler," said veteran safety Antoine Bethea. "We want to send them home. We're not going to the playoffs, so we definitely want to get this dub and knock them out."

A few weeks ago, when talking about the future of the Giants, a team executive was asked to name the one thing this current group was so desperately missing. The answer came quickly: "Michael Strahan," he said.

"We don't have a Strahan who can put pressure on the quarterback," he said, before adding "Yet."

The implication was pretty clear. Finding a premiere pass rusher was going to be the Giants' most important offseason task.

On defense, the Giants find themselves at the bottom of the heap in many categories, including sacks. With only 32 on the season, they're currently 22nd in the league.

The team's pass rush was an issue heading into the offseason, and the Giants didn't do too much to address it. GM Dave Gettleman was banking on Lorenzo Carter having a breakout sophomore season, and Oshane Ximines was a flyer in the third round of this year's Draft.

But one free agency move in the addition of Markus Golden has been a bright spot amid the defense's struggles this season.

When you watch Ohio State DE Chase Young in action, it's easy to see his game translating to the next level in 2020. If he does declare for the NFL Draft -- Young told TMZ Sports his plan is to return to Columbus for his senior year and then clarified that comment -- there's no doubt he will be considered the best prospect in the draft class.

And that's not just this writer saying this. It's coaches, players, and experts all thinking the same thing.

The Post's Steve Serby spoke to multiple individuals who have worked with or studied Young, and have seen the havoc he wreaks on a football field every Saturday. Former Ohio State standout and current Redskins QB Dwayne Haskins got to see it up close and personal during his college days.

PHILADELPHIA - Eli Manning has built his career on storybook endings. But he couldn't do it one more time.

After 11 weeks of standing on the sidelines watching his successor in his old job, the 38-year-old Manning showed everyone on Monday night that there's still at least a little life left in his right arm - but just not nearly enough to give the Giants a much-needed victory. After a red-hot first half he cooled down considerably in the second.

That opened the door for the Eagles to rally from a 14-point halftime deficit and send the game into overtime. And when Carson Wentz hit Zach Ertz with a two-yard touchdown pass at the end of their first possession, the Eagles had a 23-17 win.

It may be too early in the season, but it looks like the signing of OLB Markus Golden is panning out just the way the Giants had hoped.

One of the biggest concerns with this Giants defense entering the season was whether or not they had the personnel to create a consistent pass rush. In Week 1, that concern was even bigger with Cowboys QB Dak Prescott having all the time in the world to find his receivers downfield.

And then after Week 2 when the Giants couldn't get pressure on Bills QB Josh Allen, it had some frustrated with CB Janoris Jenkins saying he couldn't cover a receiver for 10 seconds -- calling out the pass rush.

After the Giants failed to generate pressure against the Dallas Cowboys, leading quarterback Dak Prescott's 405-yard passing performance in the season opener's 35-17 loss the past weekend, outside linebackers coach Mike Dawson and the New York staff hit the reset button ahead of Sunday's 1 p.m. matchup with the Buffalo Bills.

"I think everybody's looking for the same answer -- how are we going to get pressure on the quarterback?" Dawson said. "You've obviously got to make him uncomfortable, get the ball coming out faster and we've got to make him throw it under duress when he is going to throw it. And then, ultimately, we need to sack the quarterback and get there.

"So it's something that I think all the guys are hungry to get fixed, hungry to get answered. Came out and trained hard this week, so we've got to do a great job. Guys that can move, you've got to have a good aiming point, good plan on those guys and be able to get to them."

If there was one thing the Giants wanted to make clear after their first regular-season practice on Monday, it's that, "We're a better team than we were a year ago," as Pat Shurmur said. No Odell Beckham, no Landon Collins? It's no problem to them.

Yes, they were 5-11 last season so that bar isn't particularly high. And yes, there is an element of, "What else are they supposed to say?"

But the Giants really do seem to believe in addition by subtraction, that by removing a handful of big-name stars they've been able to build a better team -- no matter what the outside world thinks.
