The Cyclones could only muster one run on the night, a solo homerun by Travis Taijeron (2-3, HR(4), RBI), his fourth of the season. According to the State College broadcast, "Taijeron's homer was well over 400 ft."
The real story here is the dominance of the Mets 5th round pick LHP Jack Leathersich. Let me preface this by saying small sample size. Either way, Leathersich has been, how can I say this clearly, DOMINANT.
Last night Leathersich struck out the side in his one inning of work, to push his strikeout total to 10 in just four innings.
Leathersich has faced 13 batters and has allowed one hit with those 10 k's. For all you math majors out there, that is a staggering 76.9% strikeout percentage. To put into perspective on how dominant Leathersich has been, the next highest strikeout percentage in the NYPL is by Mark Montgomery (52.6%).
Like I said, its a small sample but an absolutely impressive one.
So far he has lived up to his twitter handle @LeatherRocket.
