Mets OF Juan Lagares will make his Spring Training debut Friday when the Mets host the Nationals at 1:10 p.m., manager Mickey Callaway said after Thursday's game.
Lagares, who did baserunning drills on Wednesday, has been dealing with a tight hamstring.
The 28-year-old revamped his swing this offseason while working with the hitting coach who did the same for J.D. Martinez.
Lagares hit .250/.296/.365 with three HR and 16 doubles in just 94 games last season while limited due to thumb and oblique injuries.
It is expected that he will split time in center field with Brandon Nimmo until Michael Conforto returns from his shoulder injury.
Lagares is owed $6.5 million this season and $9 million in 2019, after which he is eligible for free agency.
