Jed Lowrie, who has been out with a capsule sprain in his left knee since the start of Spring Training, is heading down to Port St. Lucie to go through the next step in his rehab process, Mickey Callaway said Wednesday.
Lowrie will take live batting practice on Friday and Saturday, according to Callaway. There's no schedule yet regarding when Lowrie will be able to go on a rehab assignment since he essentially didn't have a Spring Training.
"In Spring Training you get 40 to 60 at-bats," Callaway said. "Like all these guys, we want them to be 100 percent."
On last week's Shea Anything podcast, SNY's Andy Martino said that Lowrie told him his knee was getting there and that he's been frustrated to join a new team and not be a part of the action to start the season.
As for Todd Frazier, he is scheduled to play nine innings Wednesday in a rehab game.
"We hope to have him back as soon as possible," Callaway said of Frazier, who's been out with an oblique injury.
