With just about all gyms and public fields closed, athletes are doing everything they can to maintain their workout schedule while at home.
By the looks of it, Tim Tebow's home routine is going quite well.
The Mets minor leaguer posted a series of workout videos and photos to his Instagram account on Wednesday, detailing how he's altered his workouts during baseball's hiatus while working out of what appears to be his garage.
Just wanted to share this workout. I know so many of the gyms are closed right now, but I thought this push/pull could still be valuable. One of my next goals is to share a workout you guys can do at home. • 90 second rest in between each set. • Dumbbell Bench Press: 4-6 reps for the first 2 sets, and then 3-5 reps for the last 2 sets • Bent Over Dumbbell Rows: 4-6 reps for all 4 sets • Incline Dumbbell Press with Rotation: 6-8 reps for the first 2 sets, and then 4-6 reps for the last 2 sets • Neutral Grip Pulldowns: 8-10 reps for all 4 sets • Decline Dumbbell Bench Press: 4-6 reps for all 4 sets • Bent-over Dumbbell Elbowing Rows: 5-7 reps for all 4 sets (bring dumbell by your ear) • • • • #wednesdaywisdom • • #gym #gymlife #training #workout #workoutroutine #workoutmotivation #gymtips #tips #workouttips #gymtime #workouts #gymmotivation #motivation #fitness #fitnessmotivation
"With baseball getting postponed til who-knows-when, I'm going a little bit heavier to maintain some strength and power, maybe even gain a little bit during this time," Tebow explained.
Tebow was with the Mets for his fourth spring training with the team this year. He lifted a two-run homer to left-center field against the Detroit Tigers early on in the spring schedule, but he was eventually reassigned to minor-league camp with Triple-A Syracuse. The homer was his first extra-base hit during his four springs with the Mets.
The former Heisman Trophy winner and Jets quarterback has played in 306 minor league games in the Mets organization since signing with the team.
Working his way up from the Arizona Fall League to Triple-A, Tebow has slashed .223/.299/.338 in his 1,002 plate appearance, hitting 18 home runs while driving in 109 runs.
Tebow was also set to play for Team Philippines in the 2020 World Baseball Classic Qualifier Games, but those have been postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.
