How pumped are you for Opening Day?! Extremely, right? Well, the players are too, and seeing it has just made me even more excited.
Yesterday, the team left Port St. Lucie to make their return home to New York. Thanks to social media, we were all able to experience this travel with them. Here are some of the gems for you to see for the first time if you missed it yesterday, or just to relive it and get even more excited for Opening Day against the Cardinals -- Thursday at 1 p.m. on SNY!
To no one's surprise, Jose Reyes travels in style, even when it involves being on a team plane. The sunglasses on the (dark) plane, the half-buttoned shirt, the earrings -- I'd expect nothing less.
Reyes is not the only one who traveled in style. His best friend Amed Rosario did as well. He's missing the shades, but their belt game is on point.
Rosario may have not had his sunglasses, but Asdrubal Cabrera, Yoenis Cespedes, and Juan Lagares all found theirs to join Reyes. You know what they say, the sun never sets on a....
Cespedes also stopped by Brandon Nimmo's seat to take a casual selfie. I would love to see a tv show about their friendship, wouldn't you?
Speaking of Nimmo, he also took to Instagram to show his gratitude for a new season. Brandon, I truly do also hope that it's a fun, healthy, and successful year.
Very thankful to the Lord for all the blessings in my life! So excited to be heading back to NYC for my first Major League opening day! A healthy, productive Spring Training is behind us and the season awaits! We're excited about this team and, God willing, it will be a fun, healthy, and successful year for us all! #lgm
Todd Frazier took this plane ride as an opportunity to brush up on some dance moves. I'd like to think of it as him showing his excitement for being on this team through dance, since we've been seeing quite a lot of his moves lately.
Leave it to Noah Syndergaard to show his excitement in gif form, which caught the attention of the person in the gif.
See you soon NY.....I'm ready breathe in that New York City air again. pic.twitter.com/EAuRPannlz- Noah Syndergaard (@Noahsyndergaard) March 26, 2018
NY welcomes you back Thor. I've torn a lot of muscles and tendons over the years so you tearing your LAT is savage mode. And don't take any shit from @MrMet. He's to you, what Kevin Hart is to me. Just smile and slap him into next week. https://t.co/NxkuioYtHT- Dwayne Johnson (@TheRock) March 27, 2018
"Lets do this." The simple message from Wilmer Flores and Juan Lagares, and it was perfect. Also look at that Flores smile!
Adrian Gonzalez saved showing his excitement for the season until the plane had landed and they were officially back home.
Personally, I hate flying. But this looks like a flight I would have enjoyed being on -- just one big party.
In all seriousness, though, it's so fantastic to see the team getting along, enjoying each others company, and just having fun. That camaraderie (and trust) is important, and it should reflect on the field.
Welcome back to New York, Mets players. On behalf of fans everywhere, we're happy to have you, and we're just as excited as you are to embark on another season. As Flores and Lagares said, "let's do this."
