Erik Goeddel (pictured) made a fairly triumphant return from the disabled list, tossing four shutout innings with one walk and one strike out while yielding five hits. All in all, it was a successful return to the rotation for the 22-year who has been sidelined since May 23 with a right shoulder strain.
His return has pushed RHP Yohan Almonte, who actually earned the win Sunday in relief, and a rotation regular since Opening Day, back to the bullpen.
The hitting star Sunday? You guessed it: Albert Cordero. The 21-year old catcher was 3-5 with a double and a two-run home run to push his season tally to .282/.314/.391 and a scorching .353/.387/.498 in 36 games in the second half.
RF Rafael Fernandez was 2-5 with a two-run homer of his own as well.
