I’m happily home now after a wonderful trip around the Mets minor league system.
I owe a tremendous debt of thanks to the good people at SNY including Fred Harner, Matt Cerrone and Ted Berg for helping fund and promote the trip online.
I also must thank the Mets fieldstaffs. At each stop, the managers and coaches were generous with their time and honest in their conversations. This includes but is not limited to: manager Donovan Mitchell and pitching coach Jonathan Hurst in Savannah, Manager Tim Teufel in St. Lucie, Pitching Coach Robert Ellis in the GCL, Manager Edgar Alfonzo and Pitching Coach Hector Berrios in Brooklyn and Manager Mako Oliveras, Pitching Coach Ricky Bones and Hitting Coach Luis Natera in Binghamton.
The player development people were also great sources. Here, I must thank Coordinator of Instruction Kevin Morgan, Hitting Coordinator Lamar Johnson and Catching Coordinator Bobby Natal.
I received help from the front offices of the minor league teams as well. This includes Director of Media Relations and Creative Services Mike Passanisi in Savannah, Administrative Assistant Matt Gagnon in St. Lucie, and Director of Communications Dave Campanaro in Brooklyn. I need to single out Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations Robert Ford and GM Scott Brown in Binghamton for their extraordinary hospitality. In Binghamton I also met and hung out with the finest beat writer in the Mets system, Brian Moritz of the Press & Sun Bulletin.
Of course, thank you to you, the readers, who have paid attention, and taken the time to think about my work here and comment.
