The Mets have taken back-to-back games from the Cubs, and the top of the lineup has been the biggest reason why.
Jeff McNeil and Pete Alonso have combined to hit .333 in the last two games, hitting a pair of home runs and driving in seven runs.
McNeil has recorded two hits in both games, while Alonso regrouped from a frustrating day on Friday to blast his 26th home run of the season on Saturday.
"It's great to hit top of the lineup with him," McNeil said after the game. "Basically, my job is to get one base and have him drive me in, and it's been working."
"They've performed like All-Stars. It's fun," said Mickey Callaway. "When they produce, we win games, and they're producing often. It's amazing to see what these guys are doing. With the experience they have, to be able to do it day in and day out like they are, it's really fun."
