Last week, in an interview with Ken Campbell at The Hockey News, Del Zotto continued to say that his injury isn't serious, "I'm just getting it treated everyday. My health is my number one concern. I enjoyed my six weeks over there but I had to get home and get it checked out by doctors that I trust and am used to dealing with. It's nothing serious but I just want to make sure I am 100% if the season were to start as soon as possible.

9:44AM: Szymon Szemberg says of Del Zotto "MDZ has not enjoyed a good time in Suisse."
THIS SECTION has been following Del Zotto during his time in Switzerland.
The issue was originally thought to be a back issue.
Nash missed a few games recently with a groin issue but returned to the lineup and scored two goals.
He says that expecting players to put forth the same kind of effort that they do in the NHL when when they are paid so little and run the risk of getting seriously injured.
Campbell also says that some players don't understand that while the talent level in Europe may not be the same, the competition level is still very high.
The Spengler Cup is a six team tournament held in Davos, Switzerland every year. Rick Nash and Joe Thornton will play for Davos in the tournament.
Garrioch says that the Canadian team is usually comprised of Canadian players who are playing in Switzerland and could include players like Tyler Seguin, Patrice Bergeron, John Tavares, Logan Couture and Brooks Laich who are already playing in Switzerland.
The Swiss National website notes that Del Zotto is injured and the team website just notes that they played without him.
Our friend Andrea Branca of heshootshescoores.com caught up with Rangers defenseman Michael Del Zotto in Switzerland to talk about how he is playing for the Lakers, his development, Jason Spezza and More.
In the first game, Del Zotto and the Lakers lost 5-4 but Del Zotto had an assist, was a plus one and had two shots on goal
In the second game, Del Zotto and the Lakers lost 9-0 and Del Zotto was a minus two and had one shot on goal.
Del Zotto, who joined the Lakers of Switzerland today made these comments:
- Del Zotto says that the costumes that the gang are wearing are a little "aggressive" (Pictures below)
- Del Zotto confirms that he is going to Europe and says "it kind of came about quickly. I asked my agency to see what was available. It was depressing to stay here and skate and work out by myself. I'm 22 and I still want to develop. It doesn't look like anything is going to get done."
- On going to Europe, Del Zotto said that he talked to Tyler Seguin who said that he loved it and that all the players enjoy the life experience of being over there.
- Del Zotto says that he isn't pulling in "huge dollars" but is just trying to make the best of the situation
- He says that he waited out the situation because he has no contract but it's gotten to the point where he needs to play. He says that the players are waiting to negotiate but the owners aren't a willing partner.
Del Zotto is scheduled to be in Switzerland tomorrow and may play on Friday.
In their release, they write "Scouts and experts praise Michael Del Zottos strengths: "its excellent understanding of the game, the excellent launch attacks and a firearms license subject to income violence". The fans see him as the most talented offensive defender since Rangers legend Brian Leetch."
It was reported yesterday that the Lakers were the team that was interested in Del Zotto.
Del Zotto's insurance would be covered by the Lakers and Klein reports that Del Zotto's agent says that this is the only offer on the table right now for Del Zotto and that he had previously turned down other offers.
Reports out of Sweden today indicated that Carl Hagelin's team, SSK, is interested in Del Zotto and maybe Dan Girardi.
Brooks also tweets "Expect mass exodus within week to 10 days if constructive negotiations do not take place next week..."
Apparently both players can play if they obtain an Italian passport, which Girardi already owns and Del Zotto can obtain since his father is Italian.
He notes that Del Zotto may be more likely to join SSK as he doesn't have the expensive contract that needs to be covered like Girardi and he also doesn't have the wife and young child that Girardi has.
He said that the main reason is that he doesn't want to get injured in Europe and it hurt his chances at getting a good contract following the end of the lockout.
Del Zotto is an RFA and was unable to come to terms with the Rangers on a new contract before the CBA expired.
