ESPN's Kevin Pelton ranked the teams in the East and has Brooklyn in the "Likely Lottery Teams" category at 14th, ahead of only the Sixers.
Pelton wrote that the Nets' second half surge was a bit of a mirage, explaining that the team was outscored by 0.9 points even though they went 17-13 after adding Thaddeus Young. Pelton added that the loss of Deron Williams will hurt.
Fair to say that ESPN analysts aren't impressed with the Nets? The painful irony of being ranked in the "Likely Lottery Teams" category with no first round pick is brutal. I'll admit, I liked what King did within the limited confines he had to operate this offseason, but the more I read, the more scared I'm getting that this is a disaster waiting to happen. Maybe the Nets will prove the pundits wrong, but it certainly looks like they have a lot of hearts and minds to win over.
