Pedro Beato

AAA: @ Buffalo Bisons 8, Norfolk Tides (BAL) 7

CF Matt den Dekker was 1-for-4 with a double and scored the Bisons' sixth run of the night in a three-run seventh in his AAA debut. He also fanned twice.

The most impressive performance of the night came out of the bullpen. After LHP Josh Edgin left runners at second and third with one out, Pedro Beato?(pictured) came into the game and struck out the next two batters to keep the Bisons within a run in the sixth inning. A Lew Ford infield single in the seventh?interrupted Beato's streak of 19 in a row set down, but he induced a double-play to face the minimum in his 1.2 innings of work. He was crisp with his fastball location and used both changeup and slider.?? In 12.2 innings at AAA this year, Beato has allowed just six hits and four walks while fanning 12.

This is another interesting group with Dillon Gee and Pedro Beato providing big league value right now. ?Cory Vaughn was the Gnats' most dangerous offensive player in the first half, but it's a long way from the SAL to the big leagues and, as Darrell Ceciliani and Juan Urbina have found out, even further from the short-season levels to the bigs.
