One day after he was chosen with the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft, Simmons and the Sixers' No. 24 pick, Timothe Luwawu, were introduced at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine on Friday afternoon.

Sixers general manager Bryan Colangelo sat in between the team's two top draft picks and proclaimed the day a catalyst of change for a franchise looking to climb from the depths of the NBA.

Tonight, the Brooklyn Nets (20-25) try to snap a three-game losing skid when they host the Philadelphia 76ers (15-33) at the Barclays Center.

It will be the third meeting of the season for the two Atlantic division rivals, with each team winning a memorable game at home against one another back in December.

The Nets scored a season-high 130 points against Philly on December 16, with Joe Johnson tying an NBA record with eight of his 10 three-pointers in a 29-point third quarter, as the Nets set a franchise record with 21 made three-pointers.

Tonight, the Nets, coming off a bad loss against the Washington Wizards Wednesday night, travel to play the Philadelphia 76ers, who have lost seven in a row.

Tonight, the Nets return home to face the Philadelphia 76ers at the Barclays Center. It will be the first meeting this season for the Atlantic Division rivals, who will also play each other again this Friday in Philadelphia.

The Sixers have struggled as of late, with six straight losses entering tonight, and an NBA-worst 1-10 record on the road. Philadelphia has lost 10 straight games on the road now after initially winning their first road game of the year back on November 1.

Rookie sensation Michael Carter-Williams has been out of the lineup?since December 3?with a skin infection on his right knee, and the 76ers are 1-9 without him. Carter-Williams is listed as doubtful for tonight's game and is not expected to play.

The Nets have won three of their last four contests, seemingly stabilizing things in Brooklyn... at least for the time being. But, for a team still in desperate need of as many wins as they can get, the next two and a half weeks could give us a glimpse of what we're in store for the rest of the way.

That's because the Nets kick off a pivotal stretch tonight at the Barclays Center. Two of their next three meetings with be with the Sixers, with a home game against the Wizards sandwiched in between. Two tough match ups with the Pacers loom (on the 23 and 28 of December), but outside of them, and arguably a Bulls team on Christmas that's without Derrick Rose, the Nets have finally hit an elongated soft spot in their schedule.

Home against Philly, home against Washington, at Philly, with games against Milwaukee and Sacramento scattered around the Pacers and Bulls meetings. That's a stretch where the Nets can do some damage. Philadelphia has lost six in a row, and the Nets have to make sure that that streak hits seven. Brooklyn is just two games off the division pace, and a hot stretch against beatable opponents could place them in the driver's seat in the division as we turn the calendar to 2014. That's??a huge opportunity.

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. ? After the Brooklyn Nets starting unit showed chemistry and cohesion that was hardly indicative of a team playing its first game together, an inspection of the game's box score showed a rather conspicuous "DNP - Coach's Decision" beside Tyshawn Taylor's name.

Afterwards, he spoke to SNY.tv about his progress and when he hopes to make his debut.
