NEW YORK - March 20, 2018 - SNY, the official television home of the New York Mets, New York Jets and all things New York sports, today announced its comprehensive regular season broadcast schedule for the New York Mets featuring 127 exclusive live games and pre- and post-game shows. SNY's Emmy Award-winning Mets broadcast returns Thursday, March 29 at 1:10 p.m. ET, as the New York Mets take on the St. Louis Cardinals at Citi Field.
SNY's broadcast team of Gary Cohen, Keith Hernandez and Ron Darling, widely regarded as the best booth in baseball, return for their unprecedented 13th season together. They will be joined by Mets on-field reporter Steve Gelbs delivering in-game interviews and features with players, coaches and other personalities. This season the broadcast team will also be providing content for SNY's social media handles pre-, during and post-game. The award-winning production team headed by executive producer Curt Gowdy, Jr., senior coordinating producer Gregg Picker, and director Dan Barr, will continue to lead all SNY-produced Mets telecasts.
The Countdown to Opening Day Presented By East Coast Power and Gas begins at 5:00 a.m. on SNY with 4 classic Mets Opening Day games from 1993, 1998, 2008 and 2017. The games, cut down to 1 hour programs will air from 5:00-9:00 a.m.
SNY's live programming will begin at 9 a.m. with Baseball Night in New York Opening Day Special Edition, Presented by Tri-State Cadillac Dealers hosted by Doug Williams with a team of analysts and reporters from the studio and Citi Field. Citi Pre Game Live with Gary Apple, former Mets Nelson Figueroa and Todd Zeile and former Mets General Manager Jim Duquette, begins at 11:00 a.m. leading viewer's right into the start of the game with Noah Syndergaard scheduled to take the mound for the Mets.
The game will be followed by the W.B. Mason Post Game Show and will continue via SNY's sports news and entertainment programming block - Daily News Live, Presented by Citi at 5:00 p.m., Loud Mouths, Presented by CheapO Air at 5:30 p.m. and Baseball Night in New York, Presented by Tri-State Cadillac Dealers at 6:00 p.m.
At 6:30 p.m. SNY will premiere "Kid: A Gary Carter Story," a new documentary on Hall of Fame catcher and Mets legend Gary Carter. The 60 minute documentary chronicles Carter's time with the Mets from 1985 through 1989. Told through the voices of former teammates, journalists and family members, Kid showcases Carter's effervescent attitude, love for the game, and competitive, never-quit attitude while battling brain cancer.
Opening Day coverage will conclude with GEICO SportsNite - debuting in a new time slot at 11:00 p.m.
