Brady Skjei played 17:57 against the Capitals on Sunday with 1 shot on goal, 1 shot attempt blocked and 3 hits.
Alain Vigneault praised Skjei on Monday for his ability to beat forecheckers to the puck or to skate the puck away from pressure.
He added, "It makes it a lot easier on our game instead of defending and that last night was one of Brady's most effective games as far as beating the forecheck."
Skjei said that he is feeling more confident in his game and that he is "playing well right now."
He added that in the first part of the season he was trying to do whatever it would take to stay with the Rangers and that while he may feel more comfortable right now, Skjei said that he "still has to keep coming every day." (NY Post)
Larry Brooks wrote that Skjei was "outstanding" at both ends of the ice. (NY Post)
He noted that the more "dynamic" Skjei becomes the less likely it is for Jeff Gorton to move a forward to get a defenseman. (NY Post)
Skjei has one goal and 9 assists in the past 17 games with 33 shots on goal and an average of 16:54 per game.
