Skjei was scratched on Friday against Minnesota after Alain Vigneault was reportedly upset with how Skjei handled a play at the end of Tuesday's loss to Pittsburgh.
He admits that the game against the Penguins wasn't his best and that the play at the end of the game "didn't help me at all."
Skjei said that he has spoken with assistant coach Jeff Beukeboom and that he knows he doesn't want to be in that position of being a healthy scratch again. (NY Post)
Larry Brooks writes that the Rangers need to see if Skjei can handle playing on the right side as a way to strengthen the Rangers defensive depth on that side. (NY Post)
Adam Rotter: Skjei is a young player who is in his first full season in the NHL. He has had some very high "ups" this season and some pretty big "downs" but that is to be expected of a young player who plays as much important minutes as Skjei does. He is an important part of the Rangers present and future, skates well, moves the puck pretty well and if he can comfortably switch to the right side then the Rangers will be all the better.
