On MSG, Henrik Lundqvist said of Kreider, "when he plays like that, with his speed, it's hard to stop that. I see it in practice everyday and coming down the wing and he is big and strong and fast and when he plays the puck in the right area he can skate into it and it's tough for a defender and he has a great shot and it's a great game for him. He really stood out."
Kreider told John Giannone on MSG after the game:
- On when he is at the extra gear, "that comes from my linemates making some incredible plays along the wall to help me get into transition and it's easy to get momentum when you are high stepping and getting pucks with your head up and getting opportunities to gallop. It's a testament to Marty and the plays he was making the plays that Derek was making to generate momentum as a line."
- On his goal, "it's another play by Marty where he holds and Derek is talking to him to let him know how much time and space he has and Marc is calling for the puck so loud, I could hear him and he is screaming and demanding the puck which is the right play and when Marc got it I tried to hit the seam and Marc made a great pass. It's just a well choreographed play by everyone on my line and I am just on the receiving end trying to put it in my spot."
- On the mood after two, "We weren't pretty excited about our game, not our compete level but our execution up to that point and it says a lot of about the leadership in the room. There was a lot of talk and guys weren't solemn and we were pretty convinced that we could come back and win the game."
- On his game, "not something I think about, it's about the two points and everyone else is winning and everyone has good players but it's a character win for us."
