Marty spoke with Pierre McGuire on NBC right after the game ended:
- Why do you have the Flyers number, "I don’t know, we are able to dictate the play early on, we pushed the pace, get the puck behind their defensemen. We got a good forecheck and were able to sustain a lot of offensive zone pressure."
- On his career, "You try to prove people that you can play and I think that it was ap process. Nothing was given to me, I battled but once I broke in I had some coaches that believed in me. Torts and Rick Dudley and I played the game I wanted to play and as you progress you get some goals and I owe it to all the teammates and coaches that believed in me and the great organization I am with now, the New York Rangers"
- On 1,000, “it’s always better to get it on a goal than a second assist. Where Step was, he made a good play and went wide I just felt that it was the only place I could get a rebound"
- "There were probably a few other times today where my dad wanted me to shoot."
