Just 10 days after suffering a broken foot against the Flyers, Rangers LW Chis Kreider was out of his protective boot and back on the ice on Tuesday.
It is not yet known how close Kreider is to a potential return.
The Rangers, who play the Stars in Dallas on Tuesday night, have won just one game since Kreider's injury, and are three points back of the second Wild Card spot with 14 games remaining in the regular season.
Kreider, who had been the subject of trade rumors in advance of the deadline, signed a seven-year extension worth $6.5 million per year on Feb. 24.
The 28-year-old Kreider has 24 goals and 21 assists this season, and his mix of speed, size, and explosiveness has been missed even though Mika Zibanejad and Artemi Panarin have remained on fire in his absence.
