He said that Etem's best game was on Saturday against the Devils, he is making strides and that "it's our job t work with him and develop him and that's what we're gonna do." (Daily News)
9:39AM: The Rangers acquired Emerson Etem and the draft pick that turned in to Ryan Gropp for Carl Hagelin at the draft.
Etem signed a one-year deal worth $850,500 and would require waivers to be sent to Hartford.
Pat Leonard wrote that Etem has "had a bad preseason" and struggles to maintain possession with the puck. (Daily News)
Adam Rotter: I think that Etem is now looking at being the 13th forward, especially with the liklihood that Tanner Glass will be sent down. Etem has too much talent, is too young and has too low of a cap hit to risk losing him on waivers, especially since he was the main/immediate help part of the Carl Hagelin trade.
As the 13th forward Etem can work with the coaches and can slot in and out of the lineup as needed when it comes to injuries or players struggling.
