Panthers head coach Ron Rivera was none too pleased with the lack of minority head coaches hired this off-season.

Rivera, a minority head coach, called this year's crop of new hires especially disheartening and suggested Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell -- who did not receive an interview for any of the vacancies -- should have been in consideration.

?I?ll give you a name, Perry Fewell,? Rivera said, referring to the Giants defensive coordinator.? ?He?s a great coach and I really think he should have been in the cycle.?

Bill Cowher has not coached in the NFL since his Pittsburgh Steelers won the Super Bowl in the 2005-06 season.

The former hallmark on the Steelers' sidelines and current analyst for the NFL on CBS, now 55, told Newsday (N.Y.) he plans on returning to the NFL at some point.

Cowher has been out of the game for seven years, and for the most part had been rumored to jobs every off-season. This season seemingly was the exception.
