While top recruit Mamadou Doucoure was supposed to join Rutgers for the 2018-19 season, the power forward is set to join the team this year, according to Jerry Carino of the Asbury Park Press.
Carino reports that Doucoure has already enrolled at the university, but administration officials have not confirmed that he has been added to the roster.
Doucoure was considered a four-star recruit and No. 115 overall for the 2018 class, according to Rivals.com. A Long Island native, Doucoure had at least seven other offers before committing to Rutgers.
According to Carino, the move to have the 6-foot-9 forward make the leap a year early had been in the works since last winter.
