The Yankees advanced to the ALDS after defeating the A's in the AL Wild Card Game on Wednesday night, 7-2. Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge both mashed homers, while Luke Voit had a two-RBI triple in the win. ...This is the first time these two teams have met in the playoffs in 14 years. ...Judge became the first play to homer in multiple Wild Card Games. Stanton's homer had the highest postseason exit velocity since the Statcast era at 117.4 mph.

Who is starting for the Yankees?
LHP J.A. Happ (2.69 ERA/4.21 FIP, 1.05 WHIP in 63.2 innings over 11 Yankee starts), whose last start came against the Red Sox on Sept. 28. Happ was cruising along through five innings, but Steve Pearce sent a grand slam to the Green Monster to plate four runs. Luckily, the Yankees had a substantial lead that Happ, once again, picked up a win.
Through 69 innings with the Blue Jays and Yanks this season, Happ has a 2.61 ERA. He also collected a 1.86 ERA in September.
Who is starting for the Red Sox?
LHP Chris Sale (2.11 ERA/1.98 FIP, 0.86 WHIP in 158.0 innings over 27 Yankee starts), who has dominated the Yankees this season. His last start on June 30 resulted in seven scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and 11 strikeouts.
However, this came before Sale was on the DL. He allowed five combined runs in his past two starts aginst the Indians and Orioles, and he hasn't gone past five innings.
The 29-year-old owns a 2.11 ERA at home, which is the exact same as his road ERA.
