It was Encarnacion's 31st homer of the year, and his first game since a fractured wrist that had kept him out since Aug. 3. Starting pitcher James Paxton tossed 7.0 shutout innings of one-hit baseball and tied his season-high with 12 strikeouts.

RHP Lance Lynn (14-9, 3.77 ERA) had a 3.53 ERA in six starts in August. He struck out five and allowed just one earned run while giving up four hits in his last start against the Mariners on Aug. 29. He has a 4.26 ERA in two starts against the Yankees in his career.
