Do the Yankees have enough pitching to win a World Series title this October?
That's the burning question we'll soon find out as the regular season comes to a close at the end of September. But, if you're asking former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani if he thinks that's the case, he definitely believes they have what it takes.
"They wouldn't have the best record in baseball if they didn't have enough pitching," Giuliani said to TMZ Sports.
Giuliani has a point here. The Yankees co-own the best win percentage in baseball with one of the teams he mentions in the video in the Astros. The Dodgers also possess 90 wins on the season.
The pitching staffs of those other teams are better on paper, but the Yankees have still managed to do well with what they have. Yes, GM Brian Cashman didn't get another rotation arm like many believe he would at the trade deadline. But, with James Paxton improving in the second half, Masahiro Tanaka pitching consistent since his mid-season rough patch, and Domingo German surprising many with his 17 wins (tied with Justin Verlander for most in baseball), this can be a solid unit in a World Series run.
Time will tell if Giuliani, a long-time Yankee fan, is right as the Bronx Bombers start to gear up for the postseason.
