The clock is ticking for the Yankees and Gio Gonzalez.
The left-hander is eligible to opt out of his minor-league deal on Saturday and appears increasingly likely to, according to SNY's Andy Martino.
A source confirmed that Gonzalez fired Scott Boras as his agent on Friday and hired CAA to represent him.
If the Yankees do not add Gonzalez to their roster by Saturday and he requests his release, the team will have 48 hours to add him to the roster or grant his release.
Gonzalez, 33, is scheduled to start for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday night. He is 2-1 with a 6.00 ERA and has 19 strikeouts in 15 innings pitched through three starts.
